BeagleBone Black Wireless

I finally have a BeagleBone, Thanks to Digi-Key Electronics giving away their #digiwish again this Christmas. If you follow Digi-key on either Twitter or Facebook, be sure to keep an eye out for the 2018 one. I’m sure they’ll run it again next Christmas.

This isn’t the first time I’ve won #digiwish either so odds are pretty high. Anyway, this year my #digiwish was for a BeagleBone Black Wireless which I won on day 11.

Now, I have had some exposure to the BeagleBone with work in the past, but primarily I have only owned Raspberry Pi’s or full Linux Servers so Debian is by no means new to me. It is nice to finally be able to play with the BeagleBone hardware that’s not in a work situation.

After booting the BeagleBoard up and having a bit of a mess with it, I think this definitely has a place in my collection and was by far easier to establish the setup than the Raspberry Pi’s in the past.

I have a couple of idea’s how this could be utilised with in my Amateur Radio setup with a custom cape, I’m looking forward to having a decent dive in and see just how it compares to the Raspberry Pi’s that I own.

So watch this space.
